NARRATIVE
This is a short narrative I wrote myself about my first swim meet.
I'm pretty proud of my writing- I think I did a good job of describing things and using sensory details. One thing I think I could work on is thinking of titles of stories, and really being creative but serious about my ideas.
It was really fun writing this story at home and in writing class. The teacher taught us a lot of strategies for making your story interesting; for example, the "Show, Not Tell" is where instead of saying "She was angry" you say something like "Pressure built up in her head like a volcano, words trying to burst out like lava. She had never been so angry in her life!"

EXPOSITORY
This is an expository essay I wrote about vaccines. An expository essay is "intended to describe or explain something" - in this case, vaccines. When I was writing this essay, I learned a lot about the spread of diseases, kinds of diseases, and which diseases have been eradicated. I enjoyed writing the hook of my essay but struggled with the conclusion, not knowing how to end the writing. Also, as I researched vaccines and eradication, I ended up seeing a few pictures of smallpox which were absolutely disgusting. That was my least favorite part of the project.
